Excerpts November 2021 Educational film // Ørsted, gone with the wind

When profits depend on the weather...

Ørsted, which was known as DONG Energy before is a Danish multinational power company based in Denmark. It is the largest energy company in Denmark.

As of 2020, the company is the world’s largest developer of offshore wind power, accounting for 29% of global installed capacity and producing 88% of their energy from renewable sources. The company has a goal of net zero generation by the year 2025 and no carbon emissions by 2040.

On the other hand, despite its important financial structure, it is highly dependant on the wind which has become a less dependable partner with climate change.

Professor Jacquet paints a vivid portrait of this weather dependant entreprise.
